Executive/ Assistant Manager, Claims (Marine)

Responsibilities

  • Handling of Group Companies Marine claims.
  • Proactively manage claims from notification to closure of files. Ensure claims are processed in accordance with the Company’s Claims Service Standard and / or Bank Negara’s Guidelines on Claims Settlement Practices.
  • Work proactively to develop and manage strong relations with various stakeholders i.e. policyholders, marketers, agents, underwriters, co/reinsurers, finance department and others.
  • Assists in organizing workflow and allocation for effective handling of claims. Ensure that policies, procedures are followed, service standard maintained, and claims data processing input are accurate and maintained at a high standard.
  • Review/follow up on all outstanding claims on regular basis to ensure claims reserve are adequate and status updated. Maintain a low pending ratio of outstanding claims (prompt disposal of claims to reduce number of outstanding claims.)
  • Identify any deficiency in policy coverage, issues and adverse claims trend so that corrective measures can be taken.
  • Handle major large losses / event losses / complicated / litigated claims i.e. preparation of Major Loss Advice (MLR), preliminary loss / development and settlement loss / cash calls advices to co/reinsurers on timely manner. Keep Reinsurance and Finance advised of any material claims as set in the claims manual / procedures and work with Reinsurance to effect recoveries.
  • Participate in:-

a) Reviewing and implementing of workflows and best practices in business processes.

b) UAT on new products, system enhancements etc.

c) Initiatives, projects and assignments as and when the need arises.


Requirements

  • Min Degree holder/Associate MII/CII.
  • Minimum 5 years in non- motor claims handling experience.
  • Experience with handling litigation matters, preferred with legal background.
  • Awareness on compliance from BNM / authorities guidelines and the relevant act i.e. FSA / Insurance Act and others.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
